Parent Information Night- Implementation of ALICE

Posted Date: 11/06/25 (10:22 AM)

Dear Bristol Families,

The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our schools secure, we are adopting ALICE, a nationally recognized, research-based safety program designed to prepare schools to respond proactively to the unlikely event of a violent intruder.

Studies by the Department of Education, law enforcement, and safety researchers have shown that traditional lockdown-only approaches are no longer the safest practice. The ALICE model—Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate—gives staff and students the tools to make the safest decisions in any situation.

All Bristol Public Schools staff are being trained in ALICE strategies, and more than 30 of our educators are certified ALICE trainers.

We invite families to join us for an upcoming Family Information Night, where we’ll share more about the program and answer any questions. We believe you’ll leave feeling informed and empowered to keep your family safe.
