One School, One Book
This year Stafford students and staff participated in their first One School, One Book activity. On May 9, 2016, a school wide assembly was held to reveal what book we would all be reading. Students had been given clues in the weeks leading up to this assembly.
To start, Mrs. Ariola read the first chapter of the book. Students were given an opportunity to take a guess at which book they thought it was. Then, everyone got a sealed up bag with their own copy of the book inside. At the same time, the entire school revealed that we would be reading The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary.
Students were asked to read one chapter each night during the school week. They were encouraged to read the chapter together with their family. The following morning, a trivia question was asked related to the chapter read the night before. A winner from each grade level was chosen at random to come down to the literacy room and get a prize.
The students really enjoyed this special activity!
