A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
Dear students, parents/guardians and prospective families,
When making decisions I always ask myself “Is this the best thing for students”?
I am honored to work with our students, families and staff as we continue to improve our practice as educators and the learning opportunities and achievement of our students. The Bristol Public Schools have been recognized for our distinction as a data-driven decision-making district. Our compass for improvement is directly related to the needs of our students.
We are committed to working with students, parents, teachers, staff, administrators, Board of Education members, City officials, service providers, and all community members who support the needs of our learners. The work of educating children is challenging work and, as such, requires total commitment from all of us. In order for our students to be most successful, parents and guardians must be active partners in the education of their child(ren). As a community of teachers and learners, we will prepare our students for their adult lives in the 21st century, a world that is ever-changing.
In tandem with our families we teach students about the importance of their character as an attribute of successful social and emotional health as well as academically challenging our students to reach for their goals, and helping them understand the importance of persistence and resilience as necessary skills in their futures.
Bristol students benefit from a rigorous academic program, taught by our talented and highly effective teachers. The curricula are fully aligned with state, national, and Connecticut Core standards. Instructional programs are student-centered, with a focus on the needs of each individual learner. We continue to develop common formative and summative assessments for every course offering, enabling our professional staff to consistently monitor student progress over time and to provide effective learning interventions when needed.
I look forward to working with you and your children. I am excited to continue to make the Bristol Public Schools a model of public education success. I am inspired by our students and confident that they will continue to impress us with their performance in the classroom, on the athletic field, in our theaters, and in their volunteerism in the community. I care deeply about our students, staff, and school system. It is my responsibility to assure that all of our students participate in learning opportunities that will assist them in fulfilling their hopes and dreams.
