K.I.M. Highlights

CHMS K.I.M. students stage talent show
for National Nursing Home Week

by Cecilia Dallaire, CHMS, Grade 8

The Kids in the Middle students performed a talent show for the people at Countryside Manor of Bristol to celebrate National Nursing Home Week. The first act was a dance performance and the group of dancers worked well together. Each dancer had their own contribution to the performance. Next was a gymnastics act with many turns and twists that impressed the people viewing. Then came a magic show.

When the magician combined the rings together the audience was shocked and utterly amazed. Following the magic show was another dance performance. The two dancers were very well in sync with each other and the music. Next in line came a hip-hop dance. The two dancers seemed to enjoy performing and had perfect energy to go along with the song.
Following them was a solo singer. She got the audience involved in a sing along and they all got into the rhythm.

The last performance was three songs from some of  CHMS’ Harmonizers. All the solos were strong, on key, and performed with confidence. The first song had a perfect a cappella and provided the most solos. The second song incorporated cups that went along with the beat and the vocals. The last song was accompanied by the piano and was full of passion.
After the show we collected some reactions from the performers and the audience:

I really enjoyed performing for the elderly and it seemed like they had a great time.” -Iryna Zyma, CHMS 8th grade

I was nervous in the beginning but then I gained more confidence.” -Emily Boucher, CHMS 6th grade

I thought that for your age you all were very professional.” –Jane, Countryside Manor resident
It was great! My favorite was the first performance and the gymnasts.”-Welmer, Countryside Manor resident
