WEST WOODS ACADEMY
Parent Teacher Conferences:
Parent teacher conferences will be held on thursday April 18'th. You can call us at West Woods to confirm, but no appointment is necessary! The time to show up would be at noon, till 3:30.
REPORT CARDS
All report cards for the second marking period have been mailed out from Eastern and Central. If you have not received a copy please contact me at the main number and I will send one your way. The mid-term grade will be included with the second quarter grade. Note that the PE grade will appear on the final report card.
SCHOOL CALENDAR UPDATE
With the additional snow days added to the end of the year, the last official day for classes will be June 25. As of now, April vacation has been reduced by Three days. School will be in session on Wednesday to Friday of that week. Any additional snow days will be added to the April week starting with Wednesday and working backward. Hopefully, spring is on the way. Please note that there will be no school on Friday, March 29 (Good Friday)
CAPT
This week and next week all 10th grade students will be administered the Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT). The impact on the schedule will be kept at a minimum and classes will be held for all students not being tested. Any student not reaching the “proficiency” level on the math and writing sections, will have the opportunity to retake the exam next year or be administered the Bristol alternate assessment. This is a requirement for graduation.
PROGRESS REPORTS
Third marking period progress reports will be sent out within the next few weeks. Once these have been mailed, we will schedule a date for parent/teacher conferences. I anticipate that this will be the week prior to April vacation.
CURRENT ENROLLEMENT
With the addition of 7 new students at mid-year, our current enrollment now stands at 58 students. This represents the largest enrollment at this point in the school year in the 27 year history of the program. We all welcome the new additions to the West Woods family.
SCHOOL ABSENCES
Please remember the new state policy concerning absences. A note is required from home for the first ten absences of the year, after that, only a doctor’s note will be given consideration for excusing absences.
STUDENT OF THE MONTH
Each month the staff will select a student or students for individual recognition in terms of academics, attendance, and behavior. This month we are proud to acknowledge:
