Participating in the PBS program requires us as a school to have a defined set of consistent expectations.
If every adult in the school holds every child to the same high and frequently modeled expectations, we will be pro-actively setting up our kids for success.
At O’Connell School, we always promise to…
Hallway Expectations:
Ø We walk on the right side of the hall keeping
our hands and feet to ourselves
Ø We are quiet so we don’t disturb others
Ø We walk – at all times for everyone’s safety
Ø We know whatever choice we make, we will be held
accountable for our actions
Cafeteria Expectations:
Ø The first 10 minutes of lunch is quiet eating time.
Ø We say “please” and “thank you” when we are given our lunch
Ø We are responsible for walking to and from our seats
Ø We are responsible for cleaning up our own area
Ø We always stay in our seats and will raise our hand if we need something
Ø We will sit quietly to show that we are ready to go out for recess
Ø We know whatever choice we make, we will be held accountable for our actions
Recess Expectations:
Ø We will walk from the café to recess quietly so we don’t disturb the learning of others
Ø We always keep our hands and feet to ourselves
Ø We use the same language we would use in our classroom or if our family was standing next to us
Ø We will share the recess equipment and give everyone a chance to participate
Ø We know whatever choice we make, we will be held accountable for our actions
Classroom Expectations:
Ø Always do our best work: That includes our classwork, homework, quizzes and tests
Ø Raise our hand to contribute to classroom discussions
Ø Be respectful of everyone in the classroom so everyone can do their job – Teachers can teach and students can learn
Ø Continually work to improve our ability to read, write and understand math
Ø Keep our hands and feet to ourselves at all times
Ø Learn something new each and every day
Ø We know whatever choice we make, we will be held accountable for our actions
