A database is an organized, computerized collection of information that can be searched, sorted and analyzed rapidly. The Bristol Public School System purchases many databases to support the Bristol curriculum and student research. The databases provided to students at BCHS are listed below.

SIRS Knowledge Source

Updated daily, SIRS provides relevant, credible across the curriculum information on social issues, science, history, government, the arts and humanities. Full-text articles and Internet resources are carefully selected from thousands of domestic and international publications and respected organizations.


SIRS Discoverer

Animals, arts, science, or sports—whatever the topic make research a blast with books, magazines,
videos, pictures, websites, and more.

Through a special agreement with more than 800 newspapers worldwide, the Newseum displays front pages each day on its website. The front pages
are in their original, unedited form, and some may contain material that is deemed objectionable to some visitors. Discretion is advised.
